Luyolo Koni, Bohlale Motsieloa and Loyiso Jantjies

Three young African sailors arrive in Palma Palma de Mallorca on Saturday 18th June from Cape Town on a Marine Inspirations initiative.

As we did last year, we have managed to arrange sailing-experience positions aboard some of the superyachts that are racing in the Palma Superyacht Cup next week. We appreciate very much these invitations from the captains and owners of these magnificent yachts, and the experience awaiting our youngsters will be quite world-changing for them.

Loyiso, Bohlale, and Koni (all 17-years old) will be staying aboard the 1930 schooner “Aloha-J of Cariba” during their two-week stay in Palma, and although we aren’t participating in the Cup racing with the yacht ourselves, we will be out on the water sailing as a spectator yacht during the event.

We have also once again had kind invitations from a number of local yacht-support companies to give a short tour to the boys of the ‘inner workings’ of the service side of the industry, and this too we much appreciate, as it really broadens the boys’ understanding of our diverse industry.

We look forward to introducing our three Marine Inspirations youngsters to you through our posts during their exciting regatta sailing and maritime programme over the next two weeks.
